I can\u2019t count how many calls I get where someone says, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s blowing air, but it\u2019s cold!\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> So, let\u2019s walk through the usual suspects I see out in the field and what you can check before calling for a repair.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>The Thermostat Isn\u2019t Talking to the Furnace<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You\u2019d be surprised how often it\u2019s something this simple.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I remember a call in Brentwood last January \u2014 the homeowner had bumped the thermostat while cleaning, and it was switched to \u201ccool.\u201d It happens.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Before panicking, double-check the settings. Make sure it\u2019s on \u201cheat\u201d and the temperature is a few degrees above room level. Sometimes the batteries die, too \u2014 cheap fix, big relief.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Dirty Furnace Filters \u2014 The Silent Trouble-Maker<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This one\u2019s a classic.
